Idaho State Bar rebukes attorney over campaign accusations

Associated Press

TWIN FALLS, Idaho – The Idaho State Bar has reprimanded a former Twin Falls County prosecutor candidate for comments he made against a political opponent.

The Times-News reported in a Friday story that attorney Mark Guerry last year accused 5th District Judge Richard Bevan of helping Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs get out of multiple drunken driving arrests.

Loebs and Bevan denied the accusations. The state bar confirmed this, adding that Guerry made the allegation with reckless disregard for truth. However, the state bar will not discipline Guerry.

Loebs eventually won his bid for re-election against Guerry in the 2016 May election.

Guerry did not immediately return a request for comment.
