Man arrested with drugs, handgun in possession after leading police on foot chase near North Central High School

A man with a loaded handgun in his waistband and drugs in his possession was arrested after a brief foot chase with police early Sunday morning, according to a Spokane Police Department news release.

Eric E. Evenson, 48, was booked into Spokane County Jail after police responded to a domestic violence call in the 500 block of West Sinto Avenue near North Central High School, according to the release.

Evenson led police on a brief foot chase, at one point trying to forcibly gain entry into an apartment, before being taken into custody.

He faces charges of intent to deliver heroin, meth and morphine, in addition to first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He has 14 previous felony convictions, including one for first-degree burglary, according to the news release.
