Recaps for the Seattle Mariners top affiliates for Saturday provided by team releases and wire reports.

Tacoma (AAA) 7, Iowa 5

DES MOINES, Iowa – Mike Zunino hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning leading the Tacoma Rainiers (26-15) to a 7-5 win over the Iowa Cubs (19-22) on Saturday.

Iowa had a runner on second in the bottom of the ninth, but Ozzie Martinez struck out to end the game.

The home run by Zunino capped a four-run inning and gave the Rainiers a 7-4 lead after Dario Pizzano hit an RBI single earlier in the inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, Iowa cut into the lead on a double by Taylor Davis that scored Victor Caratini.

Jean Machi (2-0) got the win in relief while Justin Grimm (0-1) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game.

Arkansas (AA) 6, Tulsa 3

TULSA, Okla. (AP) – Tyler Marlette, Marcus Littlewood and Joey Wong connected on back-to-back-to-back homers in the sixth inning, leading the Arkansas Travelers (17-24) to a 6-3 win over the Tulsa Drillers (20-21) in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

The home runs gave the Travelers a 6-3 lead.

Tulsa went up 3-0 on an RBI single by Jose Miguel Fernandez in the fourth inning.

Darin Gillies (1-2) got the win with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Michael Johnson (3-1) took the loss in the Texas League game. Thyago Vieira recorded his second save of the season.

Fernandez doubled and singled twice, scoring a run and also driving one home for the Drillers.

The Travelers swept both games of the doubleheader after winning the first game 6-5.

Modesto (High-A) 14, San Jose 4

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Jordan Cowan singled four times, scoring three runs and driving home a couple as the Modesto Nuts (25-18) beat the San Jose Giants (16-27) 14-4 on Saturday.

Logan Taylor singled twice with a couple of runs and two RBIs for Modesto.

Modesto started the scoring in the first inning when Joey Curletta hit an RBI double to score Taylor.

Trailing 4-1, the Giants cut into the deficit in the third inning when Bryan Reynolds hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Aramis Garcia.

Modesto later scored in three additional innings, including a six-run seventh, when Curletta hit a two-run single to help punctuate the blowout.

Modesto starter Reggie McClain (6-2) picked up the win despite allowing three runs and six hits over five innings. Opposing starter Mark Reyes (1-6) took the loss in the California League game after giving up four runs and one hit over 2 1/3 innings.

Modesto took advantage of some erratic San Jose pitching, drawing a season-high 11 walks in its victory.

With the win, Modesto improved to 4-1 against San Jose this season.

Burlington 6, Clinton (Low-A) 3

CLINTON, Iowa – Brennon Lund homered and singled, driving home three runs as the Burlington Bees topped the Clinton LumberKings 6-3 on Saturday.

Jahmai Jones tripled and singled twice with three runs for Burlington.

Burlington took the lead in the first when Lund hit a two-run home run and Brennan Morgan hit an RBI single.

Clinton answered in the bottom of the inning when Anthony Jimenez hit an RBI double, driving in Bryson Brigman to cut the deficit to two.

The Bees later added a run in the second and two in the fourth. In the second, Jones scored on a ground out, while Jordan Zimmerman hit a two-run single in the fourth.

Burlington right-hander Travis Herrin (1-3) picked up the win after allowing two runs on just three hits over five innings. Opposing starter Tim Viehoff (1-5) took the loss in the Midwest League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and eight hits over four innings. Greg Belton pitched two scoreless innings for his first save of the season.

Jimenez doubled twice, also stealing two bases for the LumberKings.

With the win, Burlington improved to 4-2 against Clinton this season.
