Spokane Valley detectives arrest 2 men accused of drugs, weapons violations

Spokane Valley police detectives entered a hotel room last week and booked two men into jail after seizing multiple guns and several ounces of drugs.

On Thursday, detectives searched the Motel 6 room on North Hutchinson Road and arrested 28-year-old Scott P. Henderson and 23-year-old Austin J. Schwahn, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Detectives found Henderson and Schwahn near the bed with handguns close by, the release states. After taking them both into custody without incident, the detectives searched the room and found multiple weapons, including brass knuckles, in addition to drugs, cellphones and shaved keys used to steal cars.

Henderson apparently admitted to detectives that he’s made $50,000 to $60,000 in the last year “selling heroin and methamphetamine because he has been unable to maintain a steady job,” according to the release. He also apparently admitted to trading drugs for weapons.

Both men were booked for multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance. They had their first court appearance on Friday.
