Dansel named to Washington state director of the federal Farm Service Agency

Brian Dansel, a former Ferry County commissioner who resigned his Senate seat in northeast Washington’s 7th District earlier this year to take a job with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has been appointed Farm Service Agency director for the state.

The FSA job is a key position as the agency administers myriad major farm funding programs throughout the state.

Also Monday,

Kirk Pearson, of Monroe, was appointed to the job of USDA’s Rural Development director.

The two agencies “play a critical role in helping the people of agriculture and are able to connect with people in their home states,” Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said in a press release announcing the appointments
