Gonzaga athletics shares top spot nationally in graduation rate

Eleven Gonzaga athletic programs, including men’s basketball for the first time, posted perfect 100 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR), according to the NCAA.

GU student-athletes are graduating at 99 percent rate, tied for the highest percentage nationally with Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Loyola Chicago and Yale. The WCC average is 90 percent and the NCAA average is 85.

Numerous Gonzaga sports teams added to impressive streaks with perfect GSR. Zags’ women’s cross country, track and field and women’s golf reached 100 percent for the 13th straight year, women’s tennis (12), men’s cross country and track and field (10), men’s tennis (nine), men’s soccer (eight), women’s soccer (seven) and men’s golf (six).

All 13 of Gonzaga’s countable programs finished above the national average in their respective sports. Men’s basketball’s 100 percent is 21 points higher than the national average for the sport.
