Ahlquist goes after Little, Labrador with ‘quiz’ website

GOP gubernatorial Tommy Ahlquist’s campaign has put up a new website criticizing rivals Brad Little and Raul Labrador, criticizing both as “professional politicians” who “do the darndest things with your tax dollars.” The site is online at sadchoiceidaho.com . It’s set up as a “quiz,” asking people to take the quiz and decide which of the two is worse on three different topics: Pay, pay raises and missed votes; taxpayer-funded perks; and taxpayer-funded office spending.

Most of the charges draw on previously published news reports. Among them: Little is criticized for receiving a pay raise that lawmakers set for the lieutenant governor in 2014, which took his salary as lieutenant governor from $35,700 to $42,275; Labrador is criticized for his spending on vehicles; and both are criticized for their office spending.

The Ahlquist campaign openly claims credit for the website, which has a credit line at the bottom noting that it’s “Paid for by Tommy for Idaho.” David Johnston, campaign manager for Ahlquist, said, “We wanted Idahoans to have a chance to view each career politician’s record of doing the darndest things with taxpayer dollars and make a choice of which is worse for taxpayers.”

Those who take the “quiz” and choose which candidate is worse don’t end up with any result, however, beyond a message saying, “Thanks for taking the quiz!”
