Boyfriend arrested, charged with murder after woman found dead in Newman Lake home

A woman was found dead in a Newman Lake home Friday morning and her boyfriend has been arrested, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say they are holding Nicholas L. Holden, 29, on a charge of murder in the second degree. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on Friday night.
The woman, described as being in her 30s, appeared to have been physically assaulted in a domestic violence incident Thursday night, according to investigators.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name and cause of death at a later time.
However, multiple photographs posted to social media show Holden and a woman named Tina Stewart at a white lakefront residence on North Meadow Lane, most recently this past summer. A family member who spoke with The Spokesman-Review on Friday confirmed Stewart as the victim.
Around 8:30 a.m. Friday, first responders were called to the 14000 block of North Meadow Lane near Muzzy Bay after a report of a woman with an unknown medical problem. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives have requested a search warrant of the home. Meadow Lane was closed Friday as investigators worked around the area.
