State 1A football: Newport drops semifinal game against Royal

Moses Lake – Koa Pancho threw for 187 yards and a touchdown, but the Grizzlies (11-2) lost to the Knights (13-0) 35-7 in the semifinals at Lions Field.

Tug Smith had seven receptions for 101 yards and Jacob Kirkwood had four catches for 28 yards with a touchdown for the Grizzlies.

Lorenzo Myrick ran for 128 yards with two TDs for the Knights.

The Grizzlies made their first trip to the state semifinals. The Knights will make their third consecutive trip to the Tacoma Dome.
