Gonzaga’s Josh Perkins makes serious fashion statement during PK80 stay
PORTLAND – There’s something about a man in a robe. Just what, Mark Few isn’t sure.
But during their stay here during the PK80 Invitational, Gonzaga’s long-time head basketball coach saw a side of guard Josh Perkins – or of any player, really – never before revealed.
“Twenty eight years in this business and I’ve never seen it,” Few reported. “He showed up in his robe for every breakfast. Zebra print robe.”
Seems the rooms in the Hotel Monaco in downtown Portland offered their guests a chance to relax in style.
“They had a zebra one and a cheetah one,” Perkins said. “So I mixed it up both of the days. I asked if we could take it, but they had a little fee on it, so I had to leave it back at the room.”
Perkins put on a show without the robe during the PK80 – averaging 17.7 points and 6.0 assists and making 14 of 23 shots from 3-point range as the Zags won two of three games – the loss an epic 111-105 double overtime thriller to No. 7 Florida.
“It seems to be working,” said Few. “I guess he’s a robe guy.”
