The Dirt: Avista to construct vehicle maintenance building at headquarters

Avista Corp. has been issued a permit to build a $3.1 million fleet service building.

The two-story, 29,600-square-foot building, 1411 E. Mission Ave., will be just west of the intersection of Upriver Drive and Indiana Avenue at the utility’s headquarters. The concrete, steel-framed building will include a conference room, car-washing facilities and a maintenance garage for minor repairs and issues, such as changing oil, antifreeze and hydraulics.

The construction will also include improvement for utilities and stormwater management on the site.

Spokane Valley-based Lydig Construction is the general contractor. Bernardo|Wills Architects, of Spokane, designed the building.
