College roundup: Chloe Williams ties Big Sky career mark in Eastern Washington soccer win

Senior forward Chloe Williams tied the Big Sky Conference’s career record for goals Friday while helping Eastern Washington to a 3-0 win over Portland State in Cheney.

Williams, who dribbled around defenders in the box to score in the 48 minute for a 2-0 lead, tied Amanda Ellsworth (2011-14) from Idaho State with her 39th career goal.

Jenny Chavez and Aimie Inthoulay also scored for the Eagles (11-4-1, 5-0-1, 16 points), who lead the conference by three points over Montana and four over PSU (7-7, 4-2) and Northern Colorado.

  • Allie Lucas scored an unassisted goal in the 98th minute to give Montana (9-5-2, 4-1-1) a 1-0 win over host Idaho (5-8-2, 1-4-1) in Moscow.
  • Kyra Carusa scored her 10th goal of the season in the 86th minute to give top-ranked Stanford (13-1, 6-0 Pac-12) a 1-0 victory over Washington (9-4-2, 2-2-2) in Stanford, California.

Volleyball

Taylor Agost’s match-high 24 kills led 15th-ranked Oregon (11-5, 4-4 Pac-12) to a 22-25, 25-23, 25-16, 17-25, 15-13 win over Washington State (13-6, 2-5) in Pullman.

Willow Johnson had the final two kills for the Ducks after WSU tied the fifth game at 13. Casey Schoenlein, with a career-high 17, and Taylor Mims combined for 33 kills for the Cougars.

  • Mary-Kate Marshall’s 25 kills led Oregon State (12-7, 2-5 Pac-12) to a 19-25, 25-21, 15-25, 25-14, 15-13 upset of 14th-ranked Washington (15-4, 5-3) in Seattle.
  • Chloe Epkar finished with 14 kills and 15 digs while leading Pacific Lutheran (14-3, 8-1 Northwest Conference) to a 20-25, 18-25, 25-14, 25-17, 15-9 rally past host Whitworth (10-7, 7-2). Emiko Kahler has a match-high 18 kills and Cassandra Mendoza added 16 for the Pirates, who began the night tied for first place with the Lutes. Whitworth had won seven consecutive matches since being swept by PLU on Sept. 15.
  • Halle Hess and Kayla Neumann finished with 11 kills apiece and Haylee Templeton added 38 assists as North Idaho (19-5, 9-0 Northwest Athletic Conference) won its 10th consecutive with a 19-25, 25-11, 22-25, 25-17, 15-12) rally past Blue Mountain (8-14, 3-6) in Pendleton, Oregon. The Cardinals maintained their East Region lead, pursued by Columbia Basin (10-1) and Community Colleges of Spokane (7-2).

Men’s soccer

Alvaro Madrigal set up the first goal in the third minute and scored the second in the 24th while leading Loyola Marymount (3-8-2, 1-1 West Coast Conference) to a 2-1 win over Gonzaga (6-5-1, 0-2) in Los Angeles.

GU’s Colton Cavey scored on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute.
