Area roundup: Chloe Williams scores two goals to keep EWU unbeaten in Big Sky soccer

Chloe Williams scored a pair of second-half goals to rally Eastern Washington to a 2-1 victory Sunday over Weber State in Ogden, Utah, for the Eagles’ program-record 14th win of the season.

EWU (14-4-1, 8-0-1 Big Sky) is unbeaten in its last 11 games and is the only Big Sky team without a loss in conference play.

The Wildcats (3-12-2, 2-5-2) scored in the 32nd minute but Williams tied the match in the 62nd minute then scored off a set piece in the 80th to give the Eagles the lead with her 10th goal this season.

Savannah Hoekstra and Aimie Inthoulay had assists for EWU.

Eastern outshot Weber 13-5.

Idaho 2, Idaho State 1: Kelly Dopke and Olivia Baggerly scored goals in the second half and the Vandals (7-9-2, 3-5-1 Big Sky) came back to beat the Bengals (3-14-0, 2-7-0) in Pocatello.

The Bengals had a 1-0 lead at the half but Kelly Dopke scored on a free kick in the 57th minute to tie and Olivia Baggerly off a cross from Kaysie Bruce in the 77th.

USC 2, Washington State 1: Ashleigh Plumptre’s goal in the 41st proved to be the winner as No. 6 USC (13-1-1, 7-0-1 Pac-12) edged the Cougars (8-6-2, 3-5-0) in Pullman, WSU’s final home game of the season.

WSU’s Elyse Bennett tied the match in the 27th minute with her first career goal off an assit from Morgan Weaver.

Whitworth 5, Pacific 1: Five Pirates scored, four in the second half, and Whitworth (11-4-1, 10-1-1) remained atop the Northwest Conference with a win at home over the Boxers (0-14-2, 0-11-1).

Kathryn Bischoff, Michele Whan, Leah Corra, Coby Yoshimura and Kara Need scored for the Pirates. Molly Webster made four saves for the shutout.

Men’s soccer

UCLA 3, Washington 0: The Huskies (9-6-2, 2-4-2) were unable to put a shot on goal in a loss to the No. 2 Bruins (13-1-2, 6-1-1) in Seattle.

Pacific Lutheran 3, Whitworth 2: The Pirates (8-7-1, 6-4-1) took the lead on Kyle Cacoyannis’ goal in the 85th minute only to see the Lutes (9-4-3, 7-2-2) score in the 87th and 90th to take the win in Spokane.

Micah Weller gave Whitworth a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute before the Lutes tied it in the 44th.

Washington 3, California 0: The No. 21 Huskies (10-5-1, 3-3-1 Pac-12) scored three goals – two by Kyle Coffee – in the seven-minute span late in the game to take the victory over the No. 17 Golden Bears (9-5-0, 4-3-0) in Seattle.

Volleyball

Washington 3, California 0: Tia Scambray had 13 kills on .407 hitting and the No. 14 Huskies (16-5, 6-4) beat the Golden Bears (12-9, 3-7) in Berkeley, California, 26-24, 26-24, 25-17.
