A hiker came across a dead body Monday afternoon in the Bowl and Pitcher area of Riverside State Park.
The body was found near a walking bridge on the east bank of the Spokane River, below a sheer cliff that’s accessible by a hiking trail.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene at about 1:45 p.m. for a potential water rescue. Spokane police said in a news release that the case is being treated as an unattended death.
The deceased person’s identity will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office. KHQ reported the body was that of a woman who appeared to be in her 30s.
