Child sustains serious burn injuries in fire at home in Spokane

A child was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Tuesday after sustaining serious burns, according to the Spokane Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a call around 3:30 p.m. of a mother and child with burn injuries in the 200 block of East Cataldo Avenue. The fire was out upon arrival and didn’t cause structural damage.

The mother suffered burns while attempting to help her child put out the fire, the fire department said in a news release.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
