Girls soccer roundup: Makayla Geiger’s hat trick advances Medical Lake past Colville

Makayla Geiger scored three goals and Medical Lake beat visiting Colville 3-0 in a 1A District 7 knockout match. Jaxyn Farmen assisted on Geiger’s first two goals. Cardinals goalies Taylor Cannon and Anastasia Hurt-Moran combined in goal for the shutout. Medical Lake moves on in the 1A District 7 Cup to face Lakeside, which had a bye into the second round.

Freeman 3, Riverside 1: Lindsay Balkenbush scored the game’s first goal in the 11th minute and Freeman beat Riverside 3-1 in a Northeast 1A District 7 first round game. Brynn Van Orden assisted on two goals for the Scotties.

Kennewick 2, Rogers 0: The Pirates lost to Kennewick on Friday in a Washington 3A District 8 play-in game.

Clarkston 3, East Valley 2: Kaela Southwick scored the winning penalty kick in a shootout and Clarkston (10-4, 8-4) beat East Valley (11-5, 9-3) 3-2 . After each team scored a pair of goals in regulation, they went scoreless through double overtime before Clarkston came out on top with a 4-2 shootout victory. For Clarkston, Packwood and Southwick each scored twice, one in regulation and one in the shootout.
