Lands Council looking for volunteers for river cleanup

The Lands Council seeks the community’s help in cleanup a stretches of the Spokane River on Sept.16.

The 14th annual cleanup will cover locations in Spokane Valley, University District and the Downtown River Gorge area around Peaceful Valley, High Bridge Park and People’s Park, a news release said.

Volunteers will meet at High Bridge Park at 9 a.m.

The event drew more than 600 volunteers to remove trash from designated sites last year. Volunteer organizations have included high schools, churches, whitewater groups and service clubs.
