Football: Gonzaga Prep handles Bellarmine (CA) in San Jose

Connor Halonen had 16 carries for 120 yards with a touchdown and Gonzaga Prep beat Bellarmine (California) College Prep 38-19 in a nonleague game in San Jose, California on Friday.

Halonen completed 3 of 6 passing attempts with an 81-yard yard touchdown catch-and-run by Eric Floyd. Kasey Anthony rushed 21 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bullpups (1-1) went up 14-0 in the first quarter on a 7-yard run by Anthony and Floyd’s long touchdown.

Bellarmine made it 14-13 midway through the second after TD runs by Nick Teresi and Tyson Garcia.

But G-Prep answered with a 31-yard touchdown run by Sam Lockett, followed by Hunter McKenna’s 37-yard field goal just before half and Bellarmine didn’t threaten after intermission.

Bellarmine’s Garcia finished with 109 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries, including a 79-yard scoring run in the third quarter.

Kamiakin 49, Lewis and Clark 13: Payton Flynn had 263 passing yards with four touchdowns, all in the first half, and Kamiakin handled Lewis and Clark (1-1) 49-13 at Lampson Stadium in Kennewick.

Champ Grayson caught six passes for 119 yards with two touchdowns – of 39 and 21 yards – for Kamiakin and Talmage Jacobson carried 19 times for 109 yards.

Kamiakin ran up a 21-point, first-half lead before Keani Guthmueller hauled in a 25-yard touchdown pass from Micah Flaherty to make it 35-13 at halftime.

Flaherty earlier connected with Samuel Weldon on a 24-yard touchdown pass which tied it at 7-7 before Kamiakin got on its roll.

Hermiston 26, Lewiston 0: Jonathan Hinkle had touchdown runs of 4 and 9 yards and finished with 121 yards on the ground and Hermiston amassed 546 total yards and routed visiting Lewiston (1-2) 26-0 in a nonleague matchup.

Dayshawn Neal returned an interception 65 yards for a third quarter touchdown.

Lewiston’s Tyson Wallace went 8 of 23 for 121 yards with three interceptions.

Deer Park 34, St. Maries 0: Lucas Keller tossed four touchdown passes and Deer Park (2-0) handled St. Maries (1-2) 34-0 in a nonleague game at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow.

Tyler Chambliss’ interception return for a touchdown gave Deer Park a 7-0 lead. Lucas Keller found Trayton Bird for a touchdown pass that made it 14-0 and another pick led to another long touchdown pass from Keller to Bird to put the Stags up 20-0 at intermission. Keller hooked up with Tyson Lim on a short touchdown pass in the third.

Wallace 50, Potlatch 30: Wallace (3-0) dispatched Potlatch in a Whitepine League game at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow.
