Area roundup: Washington State women’s soccer beats Utah Valley on the road

Morgan Weaver scored in the 101st minute to lift visiting Washington State (5-1-1) over Utah Valley (3-6-0) 3-2 in a nonconference matchup in Orem, Utah on Thursday.

Weaver’s fourth of the season came on assists from Jamie Rita and Makamae Gomera-Stevens.

Maddy Haro added a pair of goals for the Cougars, including the tying goal of a header in the 90th minute to set up overtime. Haro owns three goals this season.

Amber Tripp and Sydney Fitzpatrick scored for Utah Valley.

The Cougars face Montana on Sunday in Missoula before starting Pac-12 play next week against Stanford.


North Idaho 3, Treasure Valley 0: Hailee Etter had 18 kills, Halle Hess added 15 and Haylee Templeton contributed 48 assists and North Idaho (12-5) beat Treasure Valley (4-7) in straight sets (25-12, 25-23, 25-18) in a Northwest Athletic Conference match.

Hess and Rachel Leshikar were the Cardinals’ defensive leaders with eight digs apiece.
