Police respond to juvenile’s threat to bring weapon to Pinehurst Elementary

From staff reports

Kellogg Police were notified Thursday of a threat by a juvenile to bring a weapon to Pinehurst Elementary School.

Law enforcement immediately opened an investigation, and two deputies from the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office were assigned to the school Friday morning, according to the sheriff’s office. The juvenile, who is 10 years old, has been banned from school grounds and is currently suspended.

Those actions are in keeping with a safety plan developed by the sheriff’s office.

“Please know that the juvenile does not have access to the school or any of his classmates,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post. “The Kellogg Police Department, the Pinehurst Elementary and the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office are working cooperatively to resolve this incident with the safety of the community in mind.”
