Area roundup: EWU soccer’s Chloe Williams sets Big Sky career points mark

Chloe Williams scored two goals in setting a conference record and Devan Talley had the winner in the 86th minute to give Eastern Washington a 3-2 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday in Cheney.

Williams has 91 points to become the Big Sky’s career points leader, surpassing Idaho State’s Amanda Ellsworth (1011-14), who had 87.

The Knights (2-7-1) scored first before Williams scored her two goals less than two minutes apart in the first half. FDU tied the match in the 60th before Talley’s winner for the Eagles (6-4-0).

Idaho 6, Nevada 0: Bridget Daley, Morgan Crosby, Olivia Bagerly, Megan Goo, Hadley Sbrega and Kaysie Bruce all scored for the Vandals (4-4-1) in their victory over the shorthanded Wolf Pack (1-7-0) in Moscow, Idaho.

Injury-riddled Nevada had only nine players available and was outshot 51-0.

Gonzaga 3, Memphis 2: India Jencks scored a pair of goals, Sophia Viviano put in the winner, and the Bulldogs (7-1-1) posted their first victory over a ranked team in 10 years in beating the No. 23 Tigers in Spokane.

Jencks has scored eight goals in the past five games and has a conference-high nine this season. She gave Gonzaga 1-0 and 2-1 leads. Viviano had the only second-half goal, coming in the 64th minute.

Washington State 0, Montana 0: The Cougars (5-1-2) traveled to Missoula where they finished in a draw with the Grizzlies (5-4-1).

WSU outshot Montana 15-10, 6-2 on target. The Cougars have a five-game unbeaten streak. Ella Dederick earned her sixth shutout of the season for WSU.

Whitworth 3, Lewis & Clark 0: Defenders Sydney Weiler and Jadyn Baumgartner scored their first goals with the Pirates (3-3-0, 2-0-0 Northwest) and helped the back line post its second shutout of the season with a win over the Pioneers (1-4-1, 0-2-0) in Spokane.

Whitworth scored all three of its goals in the first half with Leah Corra adding the third in the 40th minute. The Pirates outshot the Pioneers 24-3 and held the visitors without a shot on target.

Men’s soccer

UNLV 3, Gonzaga 0: Marco Gonzalez scored two first-half goals and the Rebels (2-5-0) went on to the victory over the Bulldogs (4-3-0) in Las Vegas. Gonzaga was outshot 15-10 and put only one shot on goal.

Whitworth 4, George Fox 0: Drew Williams scored twice and the Pirates (3-4-0, 1-1-0 Northwest) found the net four times in the opening 22 minutes in the victory over the Bruins (3-5-0, 1-1-0) in Spokane.

Micah Weller and Ethan Kem also scored.
