The attorney for accused Freeman High School shooter Caleb Sharpe entered a written not guilty plea into the record on Thursday, according to new court documents.

Sharpe, 15, is accused of killing Sam Strahan and wounding three girls at Freeman High School on Sept. 13. His a facing a charge of first-degree murder for Strahan’s death and he may be tried as an adult. Two of the three wounded girls have since been released from the hospital.

Court documents also indicate that Sharpe and his attorney, Bevan Maxey, attended a four minute hearing before Spokane County Superior Court Judge Michael Price on Friday afternoon. The record of the proceedings indicate the type of hearing was “rights read only” rather than a standard first-appearance hearing in which a person is advised of the charges filed against them and a judge sets conditions to be released from jail.

Sharpe’s next hearing is set for Tuesday.
