Girls soccer roundup: North Central defeats Lewis and Clark in double overtime
Kylee Devore scored the winning goal in the final minute of double overtime and North Central (2-2, 1-0) defeated Lewis and Clark (3-1, 0-1) 1-0 in a Greater Spokane League girls soccer opener at Merkel Complex on Wednesday.
In a strong defensive effort from both teams, North Central finally broke through when Jenna Janke picked off a pass from Lewis and Clark and got the ball to Devore, who found the back of the net for the win.
Mead 7, Shadle Park 2: Olivia DeShazo and Gabbie Walters each found the net twice to lead the Panthers (3-0, 1-0) to a win over visiting Highlanders (1-3, 0-1).
Gonzaga Prep 4, Ferris 2: Chelsea Lea recorded a goal and two assists to lead the Bullpups (4-1, 1-0) to a win over visiting Saxons (3-2, 0-1).
University 3, Mt. Spokane 1: Kelsey Crosby tallied a goal and an assist to help the Titans (2-2, 1-0) to a win over the visiting Wildcats (2-3, 0-1).
Great Northern League
East Valley 4, West Valley 3: Gracie Montoya scored twice to lead the visiting Knights (3-1, 1-0) to a win over the Eagles (1-3, 1-1). The match kicked off on Tuesday but was postponed due to weather.
