PULLMAN – Five different Pac-12 schools and Nebraska all hoped to have Cade Beresford on campus by the fall of 2018, but the 6-7, 250-pound offensive tackle from Woodinville decided Washington State was the best fit.

Beresford, a senior at Woodinville High, committed to the Cougars via Twitter Sunday night. A three-star prospect according to 247 Sports, Beresford chose WSU over Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State and UCLA, in addition to the Cornhuskers. He also had an offer from Boise State, where his father Harry once played.

The Woodinville senior began his prep career as a quarterback, but switched to offensive tackle under the suggestion of Falcons head coach Wayne Maxwell and offensive line coach Mike Monan.

Said Beresford on Twitter: “2 years ago I was thinking I might be looking to play D2 or D3 hoops or wondering if I’d have a shot to start at QB my junior year. Everything changed when Coach Maxwell and Coach Monan put me in a 3-point stance….for the better!”

Woodinville High also gave the Cougars their current starting left tackle, Andre Dillard. Dillard played for the Falcons before coming to WSU in 2014 and was named a Pro Football Focus All-Pac-12 Second Teamer in 2016.
