Girls soccer roundup: Katie Kuka scores twice and Mead edges East Valley

Mead 5, East Valley 4: Katie Kuka scored two goals, including the go-ahead goal in the 80th minute, and visiting Mead (4-1) defeated East Valley (4-2) 5-4 in a nonleague game rescheduled due to air quality.

Mead jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 22 minutes, but East Valley scored three consecutive goals in the second half – two by Chloe Gellhaus – to tie it at 4-4 with 19 minutes left.

Cheney 3, Pullman 0: Emma Scott recorded a pair of assists and visiting Cheney (4-3, 2-2) defeated Pullman (3-4, 1-3) 3-0 in a Great Northern League match. Makenna Benson put Cheney on the scoreboard with a goal in the 31st minute.

Clarkston 4, West Valley 1: Taylen Wohl had two goals with two assists and Clarkston (3-1-1, 2-1) defeated visiting West Valley (1-6-0, 1-4) in a Great Northern League game.

Deer Park 10, Newport 1: Emmy Moore had four goals with an assist, Jessie Thomas recorded a hat trick and Deer Park (3-3, 3-2) slammed visiting Newport (1-5, 0-5) 10-1 in a Northeast A League game. Stephanie Huang scored for the Grizzlies in the 72nd minute.

Lakeside (WA) 3, Medical Lake 1: Lexi Torok scored twice in the first half and visiting Lakeside (5-1, 5-1) beat Medical Lake (4-4, 3-2) 3-1 in a Northeast A League game. Makayla Geiger scored for Medical Lake in the 67th minute.

Freeman 2, Riverside 1: Claire Love scored the winning goal just before the clock ran out and Freeman (5-0, 4-0) slipped by visiting Riverside (0-5, 0-4) 2-1 in a Northeast A League game. Lindsey Balkenbush scored for the Scotties to tie it at 1-1 going into halftime. Then, in the 79th minute, Love scored on a perfect pass from Riley Hawley for the win.

Northwest Christian 6, Priest River 1: Visiting Northwest Christian (2-1) defeated Priest River (1-8) 6-1 in a nonleague match.

Post Falls 5, Lewiston 1: Rickie Colosimo scored four goals and Post Falls (3-4, 2-1) defeated visiting Lewiston (3-8, 2-6) 5-1 in a 5A Inland Empire League game. Katelyn Jesienouski added a goal for the Trojans.

Coeur d’Alene Charter 7, Kellogg 0: Jaclynne Lehosit and Sarah Hines scored two goals apiece and Coeur d’Alene Charter (6-0-1, 4-0-1) defeated visiting Kellogg (1-2, 0-2) 7-0 in an Intermountain League match.
