Moscow has the best farmers market in Idaho and ranks among the top 25 in the country, according to the American Farmland Trust, a national nonprofit dedicated to preserving farmland for the next generation.

Through its ninth annual Farmers Market Celebration over the summer, shoppers, vendors and community members were encouraged to endorse their favorite market in four categories: Focus on Farmers, Healthy Food for All, Pillar of the Community and Champion for the Environment.

In Idaho, the Moscow Farmers Market ranked No. 1 in each category.

It also ranked in the top 25 nationwide: 21st in Focus on Farmers, 20th in Healthy for All, 19th in Pillar of the Community, and 22nd in Champion for the Environment.

The top three most recommended markers in each state were also recognized with a People’s Choice Award. Moscow Farmers Market was No. 1 in that category for Idaho and 20th nationwide.

Established in 1976, the Moscow Farmers Market runs Saturdays in downtown Moscow from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May through October.
