Oregon man jailed 7-plus years for assault, baby’s injuries

Associated Press

PORTLAND – An Oregon man accused of throwing down his then-girlfriend’s 2-year-old – causing the boy to spend a month in the hospital – has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reported 32-year-old Thomas John Robert Allen was sentenced on Friday after a Clackamas County jury found him guilty of first-degree assault and first-degree criminal mistreatment for the 2014 incident.

Prosecutors say the boy had part of his skull removed to alleviate pressure to his brain and had to regain much of his mobility and cognitive functions.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Bryan Brock says the boy is now 6 years old and has titanium mesh covering the places where his skull was removed.
