Cross country roundup: Central Valley sweeps boys and girls events in tri-meet

Central Valley 2-2, Ferris 1-1, Mt. Spokane 1-1: Central Valley boys and girls swept Ferris and Mt. Spokane on Wednesday in the second set of Greater Spokane League meets at Central Valley HS on Wednesday.

Ryan Kline (15:58.77) edged teammate Evan Peters (15:58.95) for first place individually, while Erica Pecha was first in the girls with a time of 19:58.40, narrowly beating sister Anna (20:09.93).

Ferris boys edged Mt. Spokane while the Wildcats girls earned a win over the Saxons.

Lewis and Clark 3-3, University 2-2, Rogers 1-0, Shadle Park 0-1: Lewis and Clark boys and girls both swept three wins against University, Rogers and Shadle Park in a Greater Spokane League meet at Manito Park.

Wil Smith for the Tigers took first in the boys with a time of 16:44, while Lewis and Clark’s Katie Thronson took first in the girls in a time of 20:06.

U-Hi picked up a pair of wins while Rogers boys and Shadle girls also earned single wins.

North Central 2-2, Gonzaga Prep 1-1, Mead 1-1: North Central boys and girls both earned a pair of wins over Mead and Gonzaga Prep in a Greater Spokane League meet at Audubon Park.

NC’s Mohamed Ahmed finished first for the boys at 16:11, while North Central’s Erinn Hill took first place for the girls with at 19:37.

Mead boys beat G-Prep, while the Bullpups girls topped the Panthers.

Great Northern League

Cheney 24-15, East Valley 31-49: Cheney won the boys and girls match-ups in a Great Northern League dual meet at East Valley on Wednesday. Bas Holland for Cheney scored first in the boys finishing in 16:38 and Hannah Spakousky for Cheney finished first in the girls with a time of 21:23.

Northeast A

Chewelah 21, Newport 37: Chewelah defeated Newport in the boys in the dual meet on Wednesday at Newport. Carl Oman took first place for the boys with a time of 19:33 for Chewelah. Chloe Jones of Newport swiped first place for the girls with a time of 22:12.

Medical Lake 24-28, Deer Park 35-28, Freeman 83-DNP: Host Medical Lake took first place in both the boys and girls in a Northeast A meet between the Cardinals, Deer Park and Freeman on Wednesday.

Brandon McCoy of Deer Park won the boys at 18:08.78 and DP’s Becky George finishing in first at 21:02.06.
