Three dogs fatally attack pet, injure Idaho woman

Associated Press

BLACKFOOT, Idaho – A woman was injured and her dog was killed after three canines attacked her outside her eastern Idaho residence.

The three dogs, all pit bull mixes, entered the woman’s fenced yard in Blackfoot and attacked her pet on Monday, the Idaho State Journal reported.

When the woman heard the onslaught, she attempted to save her pet and the dogs turned on her, police said.

Harmony Jones said she heard the woman screaming, and she saw the dogs on top of the woman. The neighbor called police, and she attempted to lure the dogs away from the woman.

Responding officers shot one of the dogs so they could reach the woman. The other two canines fled after the gunshot.

“The dog that got shot was standing between this woman’s body and the fence,” Jones said. “So the police had no choice but to shoot him to get in there and help this woman.”

The woman was transported to the hospital with multiple bites to her face and body, and she was listed in good condition on Tuesday. Police did not identify her.

The two remaining dogs were turned over to police by the owner. Police have not said what will happen to the dogs.
