Former Chiefs defenseman Tyson Helgesen signs amateur tryout agreement with American Hockey League team

Spokane Chiefs defenseman and two-year team captain Tyson Helgesen signed an amateur tryout agreement with the American Hockey League’s Hartford (Connecticut) Wolf Pack, the Wolf Pack announced Thursday.

Helgesen, 20, just completed his overage season with Spokane, tying his career best with 29 points.

The Fairview, Alberta, native played 263 games during four seasons in the Western Hockey League. He appeared in 207 consecutive regular-season games to cap his career.

Helgesen had 83 assists and 18 goals during his career. He also had eight assists and two goals in 23 career playoff games.

Hartford is affiliated with the NHL’s New York Rangers.
