Region’s Wendy’s raise 20k for cancer research

A franchise of Spokane-owned Wendy’s restaurants raised $20,000 for the American Cancer Society’s annual Coaches vs. Cancer program in March.

Fourteen restaurants across central and eastern Washington and Idaho raised over $15,000 for the cause, chiefly by asking customers whether they wanted to chip in a dollar at the register. The campaign coincided with March Madness.

“Our restaurants pushed this 120 percent, and we are thrilled our customers saw it as a great cause as well,” said Wendy’s general manager Nikki Brown, in a news release.

The Spokane franchisee which owns and operates the restaurants, Wenspok Resources, contributed to bring the total to $20,000.

ACS funds cancer research and treatments, as well as programs to support people with cancer during their treatment and recovery. Last year, they provided 426 nights of lodging to 65 people undergoing cancer treatment in Spokane.
