Crash west of Ritzville kills two people from Spokane

Two people from Spokane were killed Monday morning when their car veered off Interstate 90 and came to rest on a crossroad in Adams County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Jose A. Pineiro, 56, was driving a 1997 Honda Accord east on the freeway when it veered into the median at about 6:30 a.m. about 20 miles west of Ritzville, according to the WSP.

He and Barbara R. Pineiro, 47, the only other occupant of the vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene after the car came to rest on Batum Road, which crosses under the freeway, according to the WSP.

No other vehicles were involved. The incident remains under investigation.
