The annual fundraiser for local Democrats, named for late House Speaker Tom Foley, is celebrating the strides of women in politics this year.

The Thomas S. Foley Legacy Dinner will be held April 27 at the Mirabeau Park Hotel, 1100 N. Sullivan Road, in Spokane Valley. Scheduled speakers include Tina Podlodowski, chairwoman of the Washington State Democratic Party; Sen. Maria Cantwell; and Democratic congressional candidate Lisa Brown. Heather Foley, wife of the longtime lawmaker from Spokane, will discuss her efforts to produce a documentary on her husband’s lengthy congressional career.

Tickets for the event, which will be hosted by City Council President Ben Stuckart and feature an appearance by Gov. Jay Inslee, are available online at the local party’s website. They start at $75, with lower prices for party donors. The event begins at 5 p.m.

The Spokane County Republican Party will hold its annual Lincoln Day Dinner on June 2. The keynote speaker is former Republican lawmaker Jason Chaffetz.
