SAN FRANCISCO – Daniel Bies pitched a complete-game six-hitter Friday afternoon and Gonzaga opened a three-game West Coast Conference baseball series with a 6-0 win over San Francisco, helping to create a four-way tie for first place.

Bies (4-3) struck out 11, including the final two batters, and walked none in recording his third shutout of the season.

Isaac Barrera finished 3 for 4 with two runs batted in for the Bulldogs (20-16, 10-6), who pulled even with the Dons (21-17, 10-6) in the league standings. Loyola Marymount, which lost, and Pepperdine, which won, are also 10-6.

The Zags, leading 1-0, gave Bies some breathing room with a three-run fifth. Gunnar Schubert had an RBI single and Barrera followed with a two-run single.

Pinch-hitter Daniel Fredrickson capped GU’s scoring with an RBI double in the ninth.
