Prep softball roundup: Bears pummel Titans to remain unbeaten

Kelsey Gumm fired a complete-game three-hitter, striking out eight along the way, and Jaelyn Strand drove in three runs with a pair of doubles as the unbeaten Central Valley Bears (12-0 overall, 11-0 GSL) rolled to a 10-0 victory over the visiting University Titans in Greater Spokane League softball action on Monday.

Mt. Spokane 2, Lewis and Clark 1 (10): Ashton Cathey singled home Hannah Madsen with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning and the Wildcats held off the visiting Tigers.

Jesse Dupuis of Mt. Spokane struck out 22 and allowed only two hits, while Kylie Pester of Lewis and Clark struck out 12 and surrendered just three hits.

Mead 11, Rogers 7: Ciara Harding went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a run scored and the Panthers (8-6) turned back the host Pirates.

Davenport 14-17, Reardan 3-5: Sydney Abbott hit a grand slam and Sydney Zeiler tossed a complete game, striking out 10, to propel the Gorillas (4-7, 4-4) past the visiting Indians (2-12, 1-9) in five innings in the opener of a Northeast 2B doubleheader.

Davenport completed the sweep when Makaylah Katz and Abbott knocked in five runs apiece in a game called after five innings.
