Gonzaga’s Empty Bowls fundraising event helps fill bellies

Gonzaga University is hosting an Empty Bowls art-based fundraising event Wednesday to help fight food insecurity in Spokane.

Members of GU’s pottery club along with other local artists have created more than 400 handmade bowls, which will be filled with one of four soups made and served by ZagDining chefs.

Proceeds will be donated to Campus Kitchens, a nonprofit at GU that provides 3,000 meals every month to after school programs, low-income seniors and homeless shelters in Spokane.

The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Cataldo Hall, 429 E. Boone Ave. General admission is $25 or $15 with a student ID.
