Softball roundup: Ashton Cathey crushes grand slam, Mt. Spokane defeats North Central

Ashton Cathey went 2 for 3 with a grand slam and Mt. Spokane (13-3, 12-2) beat visiting North Central (1-15, 1-13) 12-2 in a Greater Spokane League game on Thursday.

Harmony Bay went 1 for 2 with two RBIs for North Central.

Central Valley 2, Rogers 1: Kelsey Gumm pitched a complete game with 16 strikeouts and the Bears (15-0, 14-0) beat the visiting Pirates (7-9, 6-8). Rogers’ Gracie Olsen went 2 for 3 with a triple and a run.

University 15, Mead 5: Gracee Dwyer went 3 for 4 with a double, a homer, and four RBIs and the Titans (11-5, 11-3) defeated the visiting Panthers (9-7, 9-5). Courtney Awbery went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Mead’s Ciara Harding went 3 for 4 with a run.

Gonzaga Prep 12, Ferris 1: Maddy DeMarco went 4 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs and the visiting Bullpups (6-10, 5-9) defeated the Saxons (1-14, 1-13).

Lewis and Clark 10, Shadle Park 5: Kylie Pester went 4 for 4 with four runs, two RBIs, and struck out eight from the mound and the Tigers (7-9, 6-8) defeated the visiting Highlanders (5-10, 5-9) at Hart Field. Peris Oschner was 3 for 4 with five RBIs and two runs.

Deer Park 7, Freeman 2: Jaylee Lane finished 2 for 2 with two RBIs and the visiting Stags (10-4, 7-2) beat the Scotties (4-7, 3-6).

Riverside 20, Newport 5: Taylor Dickerson went 4 for 4 and the Rams (3-11, 2-8) beat the visiting Grizzlies (0-8, 0-7). Tessia Pillers went 2 for 3 for Newport.

Chewelah 13, Colville 10: Krislyn Koler was 3 for 4 with four RBI and a two-run home run and the Cougars (15-0, 9-0) beat the visiting Indians (8-5, 5-4). Kaitlyn Petrey hit a three-run home run with five RBIs for Colville.

Lakeside 4, Medical Lake 2: Brie Frazier went 3 for 3, scored a run, had two stolen bases, and the Eagles (10-5, 7-2) defeated the visiting Cardinals (5-9, 3-7). Shelby Claassen tossed 16 strikeouts for Lakeside.
