Health officials investigate illnesses connected to Kitsap County lake

Associated Press

KITSAP, Wash. – A western Washington beach has been closed indefinitely while health officials try to determine why about 120 people became ill after swimming there.

KING-TV reported in a story on Friday that the cases of gastrointestinal illnesses are linked to Horseshoe Lake near Purdy after July 28.

Kitsap Public Health District officials said the symptoms are consistent with norovirus, though the cause hasn’t been confirmed.

The public beach at the lake on Wednesday was closed indefinitely.
