South Hill apartment building damaged by fire

From staff reports

A fire in the Cliff-Cannon neighborhood of the South Hill caused heavy damage to the upper floor of an apartment building Sunday evening.

Firefighters responded to the reports of the burning building, located at 1116 W. 15 Ave., around 5:45 p.m. Neighbors said that flames were visible from the upper southwest corner.

The responding crews swiftly suppressed the fire. No injuries were reported, said Spokane Fire Department Battalion Chief Don Waller.

“No one was hurt, though there may have been possible lost pets. We don’t know that for sure yet,” he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
