Fri., Aug. 17, 2018
SEATTLE – The Washington State Patrol said a handcuffed drunken-driving suspect is dead after jumping from the Highway 520 floating bridge into Lake Washington.
Authorities said a trooper stopped the 31-year-old Kirkland man a little after 1:30 a.m. Friday. After being handcuffed, he resisted being placed in the trooper’s patrol car and then leaped off the bridge.
The trooper tried to grab and hold the man but failed.
The Seattle Police Department’s Harbor Unit retrieved him 42 minutes later and brought him to Harborview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Seattle police are reviewing the case.
