College men’s soccer: Gonzaga opens season with tie at Bradley

Freshman Demitrius Kigeya scored his first career goal Friday and Gonzaga opened its men’s soccer season with a 2-all nonconference draw with Bradley in Peoria, Illinois.

Joe Corner added his second career goal for the Bulldogs, assisted by Quinn Liebmann in the 32nd minute. Kigeya, assisted by Matt Kintzle, scored 10 minutes later to give GU a 2-1 lead.

Alex Ciaramitaro’s penalty-kick goal at 70:25 allowed the Braves to knot the score. The teams played two scoreless overtimes.

Whatcom 2, CC Spokane 1: Keegan Rubio scored at 67 minutes to give the Orcas (1-1-0) a win over the Sasquatch (1-1-0) in nonconference play at Starfire Complex in Tukwila, Washington.

CCS’ Jared Mehaffey scored at 11 minutes, 2 minutes after Koki Fujita scored for the Orcas.

Skagit Valley 3, North Idaho 1: Also in Tukwila, Paul Cuevas scored twice and Juan Soto added one goal and one assist to carry Skagit Valley (2-0-0) past the Cardinals (0-2-0).

NIC struck first on Mac Stultz’s unassisted goal at 11 minutes.
