A man threatening to jump from a ninth-story window of the Ridpath Club Apartments was detained by police early Sunday morning after hours of negotiations.
Witnesses posted on social media that a fire alarm had been set off in the building, located in the 500 block of First Avenue, possibly after the man broke a window to get outside. As a result residents were forced to evacuate, and remained outside for several hours while authorities worked to bring the man down. Both fire crews and police were on the scene.
The 500 block of Sprague was shut down for more than five hours.
