Car theft suspects found sleeping in stolen truck

From staff reports

Spokane Valley deputies found and arrested two people sleeping in a stolen car parked in the parking lot of a gas station Sunday.

Justin D. Autrey, 38, and a female passenger, 31-year-old Kristin A. Morris, were asleep in a GMC pickup truck at the Holiday Gas Station, located at 2302 N. Argonne at 9:30 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Spokane Valley Police Department.

Deputies responded after a call from a family member of the owner of the GMC, which was stolen Saturday, said they had found the vehicle at the gas station.

Deputies found two guns, one of them a loaded .38-caliber revolver with its serial number illegally removed, and methamphetamine in the car.

In an investigation, deputies later found that Morris was involved in another stolen vehicle that crashed into a power pole earlier in the night the GMC was stolen.

Autrey and Morris were booked into the Spokane County Jail.

Autrey is facing charges for theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, two counts of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a methamphetamine and possession of an altered firearm.

Morris is facing charges for theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle and hit-and-run.
