Ben College sank 11 of 17 from 3-point range on his way to a career-high 37 points and the Whitworth Pirates cruised to a 104-74 victory over the D’Youville Spartans on Monday night.
Kyle Roach scored 15 on 6-of-8 shooting with four rebounds and four assists for the 11th-ranked Pirates (6-1). Jared Christy pitched in with 12 points, four rebounds and three steals. Isaiah Hernandez came off the bench to grab a team-best seven rebounds.
Grant Beyer hit four 3-pointers and scored 26 to pace the Spartans (4-2), who hail from Buffalo, New York. Jer VanDuluitgaarden added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Whitworth sank 37 of 77 shots from the floor (48 percent), including 17 of 38 from distance (45 percent). D’Youville shot 44 percent overall but just 38 percent from beyond the arc (8 of 21). Whitworth won the rebound battle 42-40.
