Carroll College Men’s Basketball Truly Resilient

Kempson Cross SWX
Carroll College men’s basketball entered the season with high expectations and the Fighting Saints won their first 11 games despite key injuries to team leaders. All-conference senior guard Matt Wyman says he’s proud of the program’s response to adversity. “Everyone’s just had a great attitude. I think we’ve come in every day wanting to get better and I think we know that it’s gonna take getting better every day to get to where we wanna be,” said Matt Wyman. Carroll ranks third in the latest NAIA national poll after beginning the season at #22. Saints junior guard Dane Warp says the team is coming together in crunch time. “We’ve been tested a ton of times with close games and more often than not we’ve been able to come out on top. We’re all just battling right now,” said Dane Warp. The 12-1 Saints finish their non-conference slate this coming Sunday and then will truly begin their quest for a third straight Frontier Conference title. Carroll earned a #3 ranking in the preseason poll. “There’s not an easy night in this conference. You’ve got to come prepared mentally and physically to come and battle every day. We’re really lucky to have a lot of veterans. These kids are tough. Every game they’ve just been resilient,” said Jack Misell. “Conference is what I’ve been waiting for since the end of last year. Those are the games where the intensity is up, the importance is up, and you’re just fired up to play and to win,” said Matt Wyman. “Morale is pretty high around here heading into conference and I think we’ve played a pretty good slate so far that’s going to prepare us. We’re looking forward to it. I wouldn’t want to go play those teams with anyone else other than these guys,” said Dane Warp. The Saints’ next conference tip-off is against archrival Montana Tech on Saturday, December 29th at 7 p.m. inside the PE Center on SWX Montana.
