PULLMAN – Another young defensive back has chosen to part ways with the Washington State football program.

Myles Green-Richards, a true freshman cornerback from Oregon who redshirted in 2018, left the Cougars in late October, The Spokesman-Review learned Friday.

Green-Richards is one of two freshman DBs to transfer from WSU this fall. Safety D’Angelo McKenzie left the team on Nov. 9, then announced Thursday on Twitter he’d be continuing his career at FCS school Cal Poly.

A three-star prospect who prepped at Eugene’s Churchill High, Green-Richards didn’t see any action during his redshirt season with the Cougars and will have four years of eligibility remaining. Green-Richards didn’t announce his decision publicly but hasn’t been listed on the team’s roster since the midway point of the season.

The speedy 5-foot-11, 185-pound corner had two Pac-12 offers coming out of high school, from WSU and Oregon State.

The departures of Green-Richards and McKenzie shouldn’t impact the Cougars’ depth much in the defensive secondary. At cornerback, WSU returns rotational players Marcus Strong and George Hicks III, along with Armani Marsh and Isaiah Love. The Cougars bring back both of their starting safeties, Jalen Thompson and Skyler Thomas, as well as Deion Singleton, Chad Davis Jr., Makiah Gilmer and Tyrese Ross.

WSU is also expected to sign two safeties and three cornerbacks in the class of 2019. Three of those five will come to Pullman with junior college experience.
