Coeur d’Alene man killed in high-speed chase with Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies

UPDATED: Sun., Feb. 11, 2018

A 20-year-old man was killed when his vehicle crashed during a high-speed chase with Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies Saturday evening.

At around midnight, deputies say a Coeur d’Alene man identified as Patrick J. Calligan was observed driving recklessly and speeding in a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria on Huetter Road near Prairie Avenue in Post Falls.

Calligan was southbound on Huetter Road when Idaho State Police say he lost control and crashed just north of Seltice Way. Calligan, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no other vehicles involved.

The Idaho State Police are investigating the crash.
