Aspyn Adams scored 27 points with six 3-pointers and Mt. Spokane (13-10) eliminated Kennewick (14-10) 62-45 in the District 8 3A second place game at the Spokane Arena on Friday to earn a trip to the regional round of state.

Mt. Spokane raced out to at 17-9 lead after one on three 3-pointers by Adams. Kennewick responded in the second and the Wildcats led 26-25 at intermission.

The teams combined to shoot 21 free throws in the fourth quarter.

“Our coaches have prepared us very well for this situation,” said Adams, a junior. “We got (to state) freshman year, last year we got to state but didn’t get to the (Tacoma) dome so this year I’m hoping we get there.”

Emma Main scored 18 points for the Wildcats.

Alicia Oatis led Kennewick with 12 points.
