PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – In windy conditions where par felt like good work, Tiger Woods got just that at the Honda Classic. Alex Noren was even better.

Noren birdied his final hole at Palm Beach Gardens for a 4-under 66, giving him a one-shot lead among the early starters. PGA champion Justin Thomas, Daniel Berger and Morgan Hoffmann were at 67. All live in the West Palm Beach area.

Woods opened with two birdies in four holes and only one wild drive. His only big blunder was a double bogey on the par-5 third hole – the second-easiest hole on the course. He barely got out of a bunker and missed a 3-foot putt. He wound up with an even-par 70.

Rory McIlroy played in the afternoon.
