Fresh Sheet: tickets are on sale for the second annual Crave Food and Drink Celebration

Tickets are on sale for the sophomore Crave Food and Drink Celebration, started last year by chef Adam Hegsted.

The second Crave festival is slated for July 12 to 18 at CenterPlace at Mirabeau Point Park in Spokane Valley. The location is the same as the first-time event in 2017. But the fest has been pushed back from Father’s Day weekend to mid July.

Tickets are available in a package for all six events as well as individually. Other packages include three of the six events or just the two Grand Tasting events. The schedule is:

July 12 – Seafood Bash, 6 to 9 p.m.

July 13 – Foods from Around the World, 6 to 9 p.m.

July 14 – Grand Tasting, 1 to 4 p.m., and Fire and Smoke, 6 to 9 p.m.

July 15 – Brunch, 9 a.m. to noon, and Grand Tasting, 1 to 4 p.m.,

Special guest chefs have not yet been announced. The line-up at the inaugural event included Jeremiah Tower, a pioneer of California cuisine.

Early birds save money. Ticket prices will increase as the festival gets closer. For prices – and to make ticket purchases – visit cravenw.com.

New Asian eatery opens in CdA

Momo has opened in Coeur d’Alene.

The new sushi, wok and grill is located in the space that formerly held Bonsai Bistro, another Pan-Asian eatery which closed in early May.

Momo held a soft launch just before Christmas and officially opened Dec. 26.

Its sushi menu features assorted nigiri – albacore, clams, salmon, salmon roe, fresh water eel, octopus and more – as well as a somewhat smaller sashimi listing with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, octopus, halibut and escolar.

Look, also, for a sushi bowl – with raw fish, mixed greens, roe, rice, wasabi, shallot and pickled ginger – as well as a Hawaiian poke bowl with tuna, black bean, ginger, chili flakes, sprouts, garlic, daikon slaw, scallions and sushi rice.

Classic rolls include spicy tuna, California, Philadelphia, rainbow and yellowtail. Specialty rolls include the North Idaho with shrimp tempura, spinach, avocado, cream cheese and sprouts; Las Vegas with tuna, crab, spicy crab, cream cheese and avocado; Seahawk with salmon, shrimp tempura, crab, avocado, cucumber and cream cheese; and signature Momo with lobster, scrap, scallops, avocado and smelt roe.

Appetizers include crab wontons, spring rolls, calamari, pork dumplings and edamame. Noodles – yakisoba, pad thai, tempura udon – round out the menu along with a variety of wok entrees, such as Thai coconut curry, teriyaki, bibimbap, spicy kung pao, donkatsu and honey-miso glazed salmon.

Momo is at 101 E. Sherman Ave. in Coeur d’Alene. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 9 p.m. for dinner Tuesday through Sunday. Call (208) 966-4076. On the web: momocda.com.
